In-Situ Remediation / Groundwater Pump & Treat

ICS's extensive experience in trenching and plumbing work has been applied in many groundwater pump and treat systems. Working closely with our consulting partners to discuss practical application and installation is carried our regularly to ensure an efficient and smooth installation process. Treatment system procurement, installation, manifest installation and system connection are regularly within the scope of work for ICS.

Treatment of liquid wastes varies widely from site to site depending on contaminant type, volume, concentration and solids content. Liquid waste can be pre-treated or treated on-site and disposed in existing treatment facilities or hauled off-site for treatment and disposal.

The most common methods include: activated carbon, air stripping and biodegradation of organics, chemical precipitation for metal removal; filtration for removal of low levels of suspended solids, gravity separation for removing oil, grease and suspended solids; and neutralization for corrosivity.

The intent of any groundwater remediation is to contain or remove a hazardous waste plume, or adjust the water table to prevent plume formation. Several factors determine what type of well is necessary, including depth of contamination and hydrologic and geologic characteristics.

Once groundwater contamination is discovered, installation of a network of groundwater extraction wells may provide an adequate method for recovery of floating or dissolved hydrocarbon or other contaminant (i.e. solvents) product.

This type of recovery system design is based on calculated aquifer parameters and computer modeling.
